Safety Handgrips

Steering Stop

The frame & fork design restricts the handlebar from turning fully, preventing the bike from jack-knifing. This safety feature provides children an easier and safer ride, as well as protecting them from getting caught in, or under, the bike.

GFR Construction

The frame, fork, handlebar & seatpost are manufactured from glass fibre reinforced (GFR) polyamide. The combination of advanced composite materials and state-of the-art plastic injection technology achieves an extremely strong, lightweight and highly durable finished product. Your FirstBIKE will not dent, chip, crack or splinter, yet it will flex just enough to provide a comfortable ride on bumpy surfaces.

Ergonomic star-knob allows instant and easy adjustment of seat height - continuously adjustable over a 10cm range.

Brake

All models are available with SAFETY STOP.  Specially designed for FirstBIKE, this rear drum brake provides additional safety for the rider. From around 30 months, a child can take full advantage of SAFETY STOP and develop further the skills required to ride a real bicycle (easy to disconnect until the child is ready). Teflon cable housing and a child's brake lever combined with the easy-to-pull drum brake design make the brake easy to operate, even for small children's hands.

SAFETY STOP has a smooth, progressive action that provides effective, but not aggressive, braking. Naturally it is installed on the rear wheel for safety.

The enclosed mechanism is protected from the weather and provides no temptation for small fingers.  SAFETY STOP will require little or no maintenance over its lifetime.

Wheels

12.5" hollow-spoke GFR polyamide wheels.

Sealed cartridge bearings.

These wheels are extremely rigid on account of the hollow spokes. Far stronger and more true than conventional spoked wheels, the smooth design has no sharp edges, making them safe as well as easy to clean.

Tyres

CROSS & STREET models: 12.5" pneumatic off-road (CROSS) or road (STREET) profile tyres with Schraeder (car-type) valve. Quick to inflate, with good traction and comfortable suspension.

Available as an option on STREET models: 12.5" solid polyurethane road profile tyres. Maintenance free, puncture-proof, low-profile.


All tyres are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
